Careers & University Department

Careers and University Deparment

We aim to offer students not only a first-class education but also provide them with the necessary skills and careers education to enable them to embark successfully on their chosen study route or profession. Parents and alumni are invaluable to us in this aim, talking at events, offering advice and information based on their own experiences, as well as hosting work shadowing opportunities.

It is through their efforts that students can see the world of work beyond the confines of a school education, and thus prepare themselves more fully for what lies ahead. We are therefore keen to welcome any parents who wish to be involved in this aspect of KGS. The Careers & Universities Department runs several events where the contribution of parents is greatly appreciated.

The highlight of the Careers calendar is Careers Evening, which takes place in January or March every year.  Up to 50 different speakers attend, giving short talks on their profession and answering questions. Any help from parents willing and able to offer work shadowing to students in the Fifth Year and Sixth Form is also much valued.

Our students are interested in a wide array of opportunities, so we welcome volunteers from any background who feel they would be able to provide students with an informative and engaging insight into their career. If you would like to support the Careers & Universities Department then please do fill in the form in your online checklist, and someone will be in contact with you.
