A Sixth Form student from Kingston Grammar School has been selected to play for the Surrey Stars in the Kia Super League.

Batter Eva Gray, 17, has been called up to join the 15-strong squad after impressing selectors during her time in the Surrey County Cricket Club Women’s and England Academy programme.

Kingston Grammar School Head of Cricket, Dominic Reed, said: "Not only is Eva forging her own fantastic pathway in professional sport, she is forming a legacy at the school for girls in cricket. Her dedication to the sport, we hope, will reap huge rewards for her and I personally look forward to see her sporting prowess develop in the coming years."

Eva started playing cricket aged 11 at Kingston Grammar School and now at age 17 is part of the England Academy Programme, training 7 hours a week with Surrey CCC.

Eva said: “I’m thrilled to be selected. It’s been an ambition of mine to represent my county at the highest level and I’m looking forward to training and learning from the other more experienced girls in the squad.”

Richard Bedbrook, Surrey Stars Head Coach, said: “I sincerely hope that the experience and opportunity to learn from some of the world’s best players, now as team mates for the Kia Super League, will help all those selected make continued strides in the game.”
