Invoices
The annual tuition fees are divided into three equal parts and charged separately, on a termly basis, regardless of the length of any term. The invoice dates are:
| Term | Invoice Date |
|---|---|
| Autumn | 1 August |
| Spring | 1 December |
| Summer | 1 April |
The School aims to send out a draft invoice to parents for review 20 days before the invoice date, and the final invoice 10 days before the invoice date.
The School has two Direct Debit schemes, a monthly and a termly option detailed below. Parents must sign up to one of these schemes or the Fees in Advance scheme (covered below). The School may, on an exceptional basis, agree with you in advance and in writing an alternative payment arrangement such as termly bank transfers.
Termly Direct Debit
Termly Direct Debits for the full termly bill are collected five working days before the start of each term. Term dates can be found here: Term dates
Monthly Direct Debit
Monthly Direct Debits are taken on the first working day of each month. The full termly invoice value is split into four equal payments and the collection months are shown below:
| Term | Collection months |
|---|---|
| Autumn | August, September, October, November |
| Spring | December, January, February, March |
| Summer | April, May, June, July |
Fees in Advance
The School runs a Fees in Advance scheme with a commutative rate of 1.75%. Details of the Scheme and a Fees in Advance calculator can be accessed here:
Please contact finance@kgs.org.uk for more details.
Bank transfers
The School may, on an exceptional basis, agree with you in advance and in writing to settle fees via bank transfer. The full termly bill must be paid five working days before the start of term. There is no option to pay monthly instalments via bank transfer.
Cheques and credit cards are not accepted.
Termly extras
As a rule, the following are charged in the term in which they fall: lunch, insurance schemes, charity donations, PSA contributions, examination charges, computer leases and musical instrument hire charges.
Other charges (for example, senior sports options) are charged in arrears up until the half-term of the previous term.
| Termly invoice | Charges Covered |

Fee assistance
Fee assistance is determined by the financial circumstances of the student’s parents/carers.
The amount of assistance is meanstested, with potential support covering up to 100% of the fees, depending on the specific circumstances.
The School may also assist with costs such as uniforms, school lunches, essential academic trips and examination fees.
We welcome applications from parents/carers of prospective students applying for 11+ entry who might not typically consider independent education due to financial constraints.
It is possible to receive both fee assistance and a scholarship. Much of the financial support we offer is funded through fee income, supplemented by generous donations from former students and parents to our Fee Assistance Fund.
Fee assistance awards are granted at the beginning of a student’s journey at KGS, with no further opportunities to apply for assistance except at 16+ entry. As funds for fee assistance are limited, parents/carers are encouraged to explore all other funding avenues before applying. All information regarding the process is kept confidential by the School. The assessment includes a comprehensive review of both parents’/carers’ finances, including assets. Allowances are made for essential expenses and other dependent children.
Fee assistance awards are subject to:
- A home visit.
- Annual re-assessment of parental financial means.
- Satisfactory academic performance.
- Good conduct of the student.
Applying for fee assistance
For 11+ entry, fee assistance is contingent upon satisfactory performance in the entrance examination. Awards can extend into the Sixth Form, provided Sixth Form entry requirements are met.
To apply, please register for entry and indicate your interest in fee assistance on the registration form. You will then be directed to complete a short form. Late applications will not be considered.
As a general policy, we cannot process applications submitted with only one parent’s details when two share legal parental responsibility, even if one has primary custody. Exceptions are rare and require additional context and supporting documents.
If your child is offered an interview, you will be asked to complete a more detailed application form.
