KINGSTON GRAMMAR SCHOOL APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR OF SPORT

KGS is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Andrew Watts to the post of Director of Sport starting in September 2021. Andrew is currently the Director of Sport at Magdalen College School in Oxford and prior to this was Head of Boys’ & Girls’ Hockey at Marlborough College. He also has experience as a Head of PE and as a Housemaster.

A keen sportsman, Andrew has coached and played for Premier League Reading Hockey Club for many years where he won domestic titles as well as the European Cup. He has also represented England at U16, U18, U21 and first team level. For the past four years he has played for Oxford Hawks HC and is also interested in, and has coached, tennis, cricket, rugby, golf and football. Andrew ran the London Marathon in 2012.

Before Andrew joins KGS in September 2021 he will be visiting the School regularly to work alongside Sam Lavery, Steve Hardy, the Heads of Sport and other members of the Sport Department to begin work on a shared vision for the future of KGS Sport over the next three to five years.

Andrew commented, “I am delighted to be joining KGS, a school with a fantastic sporting history. I am really looking forward to meeting students, colleagues and parents and building on the outstanding national reputation of KGS Sport.”
