Kingston Grammar School students break school records with the best-ever set of GCSE results

Kingston Grammar School students are celebrating an exceptional set of GCSE results that has broken school records. Despite the challenging backdrop of the last two years, they have exceeded all expectations and should be incredibly proud of their achievements. The number of top grades awarded is well above that achieved in 2021.

Alongside their exam success, this group of students have given so much in other areas of school life, including engaging in competitive sport, music, drama, Duke of Edinburgh, mentoring and volunteering.

Particular congratulations go to the 18 students who achieved a clean sweep of grade 9s across all their subjects: Maya Arwas, Miranda Scott and Polina Turnbull achieved an incredible 11 top grades; Elinor Comard, Jasmine Moher, Lara Pickard, Ella Robinson, Theo Pflanz and Tilly Cairney-Leeming all achieved 10 grade 9s, and Josh Batchelor, Poppy Emerson, Stanley Farrant, Tom Morris, Danni Poole, Joe Tooth, Ingrid Verwoerd, Audrey Coursey and Michaela Henderson were all awarded nine grade 9s.

Head of Fifth Year Ollie Garner said: “These students have truly excelled, with a record-breaking set of examination results that belies the two years of disruption to their learning that they faced. I am delighted for them all.”

Head Master Stephen Lehec said: “This outstanding set of results is testament to their hard work and commitment in challenging circumstances. They have shown great resilience and character, and we look forward to welcoming them into Sixth Form where they will continue to thrive and be valued senior members of the KGS community. Sincere thanks also go to parents for their unwavering support and the dedicated teaching staff who have helped to ensure this cohort of young people can go on to the next stage in their education proud of what they have achieved.”
